Megan Medina is a licensed professional counselor who thrives when she’s helping others. She’s a lifelong west Texan who briefly left home for Boston University graduate studies before returning to Midland in 2004. In 2010, Megan decided to pursue a second graduate degree, this time in counseling, and has never looked back. In her spare time, you can usually find her reading counseling theory and fiction, practicing cardio-kickboxing, teaching yoga, and traveling and hiking with her family and friends.
Megan’s clients come from all over west Texas to meet with her. She enjoys helping individuals and couples of all backgrounds and is grateful for the stories and connections they share with her. Her goal is for every person to walk away feeling good about the future, more self-aware, and that every counseling hour isn’t wasted. Clients comment that they like her warm and open personality, and that she asks questions they’ve never thought of before.
Megan practices an integrated style of humanistic, emotionally-focused therapy with a friendly, nonjudgmental approach. She wants every session to feel safe and inviting, while being productive at the same time. She is EMDR basic-trained, Level 2 trained in Sandtray Therapy, Level 2 trained in The Gottman Method for couples counseling, and draws from a variety of theoretical orientations, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) and other wellness-oriented interventions. She also has extensive experience working with teens and young adults.
Currently, Megan is serving as president of the Permian Basin Counseling Association (PBCA). She is also pursuing a four-year diploma program in Existential Analysis, based on the work of Viktor Frankl and Alfried Längle, in order to help her clients examine larger questions about life, meaning, and values. This empowering theoretical approach has become a passion for her and an ongoing theme in her life and in her counseling sessions with clients.
